Jerusalem, Judea, and Samaria
The P.E.A.C.E. Plan is a three-dimensional call to action. Personal
P.E.A.C.E. involves you, as an individual, taking Christ to your
immediate circle of influence. Local P.E.A.C.E. extends further
into the general community, to people you may not personally
know, and is carried out by small groups. Global P.E.A.C.E. reaches
out cross-culturally, usually requiring your small group to engage
people in a foreign country. The Local P.E.A.C.E. approach
not only provides an avenue to grow a love for missions in our
hearts, our Small Groups, and our church, but also obeys Jesus’ instructions
in Acts 1:8.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes
on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts
1:8 (NIV)
He has commanded us to “be witnesses” in:
• Jerusalem—your immediate community
• Judea—the extended community within a 21-minute drive*
• Samaria—cross-culturally, whether nearby or overseas
• The ends of the earth (wherever God leads)
* Experience has taught us that volunteers will regularly serve
in places that are no more than 21 minutes from their home.
The long-range success of Local P.E.A.C.E. means focusing on
projects that are ongoing in nature, whether big or small, in
your Jerusalem or Judea, or in your local Samaria (which would
be people of other cultures in your neighborhood). Local P.E.A.C.E.
then becomes the bridge to the Global P.E.A.C.E. Plan, in which
church members are challenged to literally reach out with God’s
message of love and hope to an overseas Samaria.
