Congratulations on leading your Small Group through the process
of Designing a P.E.A.C.E. Project! You have done a great
job leading your group this far through the P.E.A.C.E. Pathway
and have made significant discoveries along the way. This
is a great opportunity to take a moment and celebrate your group’s
progress until now. Make sure to enjoy this process and
thank God for His guidance and wisdom along the way.
There are a few steps that are necessary for you to take in
order to ensure your Small Group is adequately prepared. The
Missions Team is here to help you in any way needed through this
process. If you need assistance please connect with your
P.E.A.C.E. Coach. They will be a great source of encouragement
and can provide you with some helpful tips to overcome whatever
challenges you may face through the preparation process. Follow
the steps below to help your Small Group be prepared for P.E.A.C.E.:
1. Develop a Prayer Strategy for your Small Group: Your
Small Group has access to bible studies that will help encourage
them to pray individually, to understand the significance of
group prayer, to learn about what a prayer walk is and its
benefits, and understand what to pray for. As P.E.A.C.E.
Champion, it is your role to not only pray individually but
to help your group be intentional in prayer as well.
-
First, create prayer objectives: A
prayer objective simply details what your Small Group should
be in agreement about in prayer. It ensures that everyone
is intentional in what they are praying and that your group
is on the same page. This will act as a guide as your
group members set aside time individually to pray.
-
Second, pray together as a Small Group: Make
sure to include times between now and your P.E.A.C.E. Project
to pray together as a group. This can be done for a
few minutes as you meet in the parking lot after church,
on a conference call, during your Small Group meetings, or
before you do a prayer walk. Be creative!
-
Third, organize a prayer walk: This
can become a significant activity that can break down strongholds,
increase your group’s sensitivity to what God wants
to do among the people you desire to impact, and allows God
to give you insights on the giants and opportunities affecting
the people group you are aiming to reach.
2. Delegate Responsibilities to your Small Group: Remember,
this is not a project meant to solely fall on the shoulders
of the P.E.A.C.E. Champion. It is important to engage
as many of your Small Group members as possible. This
is a critical component of their personal growth, to the momentum
experienced in your group, and the overall effectiveness of
your P.E.A.C.E. Project. There are two things to consider
when delegating responsibilities to your Small Group.
-
First, consider their SHAPE: Take
into consideration the SHAPE of your individual group members. If
someone is a great communicator, or detailed oriented, or great
with children, or a wonderful cook then delegate the appropriate
tasks to those people. This will ensure those individuals
are both fulfilled and fruitful with the responsibility you
have delegated to them.
-
Second, clarify expectations: When
delegating tasks it is important to let them know exactly what
you expect them to do and deadlines by when it should be done. We
have included a task list that you can download which will
help you mange the tasks that need to be completed, who you
have delegated the tasks to, and by when the tasks should be
done.
3. Communicate with your Small Group: Make
sure that you are walking your Small Group through this process
every step of the way by communicating with them. This
will keep them involved and the momentum going from your Design
Party.
