Building Campaign
Project Updates
4 Essentials for this Campaign
1. We must believe it can be done!
Jesus said, “According
to your faith it will be done!”
2. Every Family in our Church must be involved!
Through
working, praying and committing together, we all must do our
part.
3. We must each be willing to sacrifice
Nothing
great is ever done without sacrifice. Your church
needs your commitment now. It’s time to give something
back.
4. We must be creative in finding ways that
each of us can give more than we ever thought possible.
A GUIDE TO DISCERNING GOD’S
WILL
In Deciding Your Giving Commitment
The most important
decision you or your family will make during the Embracing Our
Destiny emphasis will be the decision about your own giving commitment. How
do you know what God wants you to give? Here are some suggestions
to consider.
As
you pray about your part, keep in mind that our theme is “Equal
Sacrifice, Not Equal Gifts.”Obviously,
everyone doesn’t have the ability to give the same amount. However,
God does want all of us to make a genuine sacrifice for Him. “I
will not sacrifice to the Lord an offering that cost me nothing.”
(2
Samuel 24:24)
Remember,
your Embracing Our Destiny commitment includes both a
cash gift (now) and an 18 month
giving commitment. Most of us can give
far more than we initially think by giving it over a three year
period. More important, you will grow more spiritually if
you develop the habit of consistent, weekly giving. God says, “On
every Lord’s Day you should put aside something from what
you have earned during the week, and use it for this offering. The
amount depends on how much the Lord has helped you earn.”
(1
Cor. 16:2 LB)
Each
of us has a choice to make:
1. I can give based on REASON. This means
I look at what I have, figure out what is “reasonable,” and
commit that amount. It takes no faith to give by reason. Reason
simply asks, “What can I afford? “
2. I can give based on REVELATION. This
means I determine my gift by praying, “Lord, what do
you want to give through me?” This kind of giving
requires faith. The Bible says “Without
faith it is impossible to please God.” (Heb.
11:6) That’s
why God honored the Macedonians: “They gave
not only what they could afford, they gave even more than
they could afford!” (2 Cor. 7:3) God
promises to bless us when we give in faith. 2 Corinthians
9:8 (LB) says, “God is able to
make it up to you by giving you everything you need and more
so there will not only be enough for your own needs but plenty
left over to give joyfully to others.”
The following Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs) are intended to provide you background information pertaining
to the progress and status of Destiny’s Embracing Our Destiny
(EOD) Campaign:
What is the anticipated date of expansion into our next phase?
Plans are currently being developed to efficiently and effectively begin our
next phase of building. Although final details are not currently available,
we will share updates as these plans are finalized.
Will the parking lot be completed or expanded
prior to opening the new worship center to accommodate the increased
capacity? Are there any plans for pedestrian
walkways?
Now that we are getting settled into our new facility, we are beginning the assessment
of next steps as it pertains to expansion. We do recognize, however, that
the congregation’s safety is of utmost importance and are continuously
reviewing options to improve your total experience, which includes your entry
into the worship center from the parking lot. We are currently reviewing
plans to develop sidewalks from the parking areas that will enable a safer entry
into the building.
Does the church offer any curriculum on managing
my money according to God’s
will? I want to follow the Pastor’s teaching, but I
need some direction and advice.
Yes, REDEEM, our Financial Ministry, offers financial counseling. Please
contact the church office for more information.
Are there any plans to erect a steeple on the outside and/or cross or some other
religious symbol in the inside of our new church facility so that people entering
will know that they are entering a church building?
Plans are currently being reviewed to place a cross inside the church – most
likely in the worship center.
Can we donate our gift on-line?
Yes! You can make an on-line contribution by selecting the “Online
Giving” icon at the bottom of this page.
If I want to give monthly and annually, do I fill out two commitment cards?
No. Complete one commitment card for your total contribution.
How will you track our gifts?
We will track your giving by the same method we use to track the tithes and offerings. To
ensure accuracy, please designate commitment payments and itemize giving by tithe,
offering and building fund on the front of the church envelope.
Can non-members contribute to our church? How will you track their donation? Do
they use the same commitment card?
Yes. We welcome gifts from non-members who wish to support the vision of
Destiny. Non-members should also complete a commitment card, so that their
donations may accurately tracked.
Will corporate donors also receive the necessary
tax benefits? Will they
use the same commitment card? How will we track the amount
they give?
Yes, corporate donors can submit the same commitment card. Donations made
by businesses will be tracked by the same method used to record contributions
made by individuals. Corporate contributors should consult their tax advisor
regarding potential tax benefits.
Will you accept contributions in forms other than cash?
Yes.
What type of assets do you prefer?
We prefer assets that can be easily converted to cash (i.e. stocks, bonds, real
estate, precious metals, coins, jewelry, etc.)
If we get sponsors (i.e. corporations, vendors, special donors, etc.), whom do
we notify?
Contact the Business Management Office with the sponsor’s vital contact
information (name, address, telephone number, email address). A commitment
card will be completed for our record keeping and tracking purposes as well as
provide instructions on how to forward the donation to Destiny.
How can I find out if my employer makes corporate contributions?
We suggest you contact your company’s Human Resources department to determine
their matching gifts or contribution policy.
Will you distribute statements to help me track my level of contribution?
Contribution statements will be sent out twice during the calendar year. In
addition, you can track your financial contributions using the Online Giving
tool on this website.
What’s being done about fundraising?
As we continue our journey in this campaign, a priority for the campaign is now
spiritual growth and maturity, thus the campaign has evolved into a Faith Raising
Campaign (where funds are collected and disciples are developed) instead
of a traditional Fundraising campaign. Internal congregation fundraising
(similar to our Small Groups curriculum campaign) is being replaced by prayerfully
giving.
What else can I do?
Along with your gifts, we want you to be prayerful about the future that Destiny
is creating for the Kingdom. Your prayers for changed lives at Destiny
and throughout the community and this world are key. Pray for the positive
impact that we will make and the legacy that we will leave for our children and
future generations. Pray for sacrificial giving and increased faith. Pray
that those who are working on and around the project remain steadfast and diligent
for the cause. Pray without ceasing.
“Having started the ball rolling so enthusiastically, you
should carry this project through to completion just as gladly, giving
whatever you can out of whatever you have. Let your enthusiastic
idea at the start be equaled by your realistic action now.” 2
Corinthians 8:11 (LB)
